Novel solid-state batteries not only promise <strong>higher energy density and a longer service\nlife<\/strong>, but also <strong>improved safety and environmental compatibility<\/strong> compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. They can therefore play a key role in electromobility.<\/p><p>However, there are still some challenges, such as the search for high-performance and cost-efficient materials, the influence of interface effects within a device, and processability and economies of scale in battery production. We conduct research on the development of novel ion-conducting materials, up to the targeted design of new material systems, such as the production of hybrid materials via electrospinning. We develop and optimize specially adapted hardware to test the developed cells for its physical and electrochemical properties. Our researchers test all relevant process steps, verifying and qualifying the materials for applicability in roll-to-roll printing.
